Thursday, 1 May 2008: An update!

Well there’s one good thing that has happened this week, my journal didn’t need to be handed up on Wednesday so all is good, we didn’t do the oral that was scheduled either! Yay! On the negative side we had a critical reading this afternoon, gah a whole hour trying to analyse a page and a half of writing….. on my last two critical reading’s I got an eight and then a twelve, at least it’s an improvement. I finished reading my book for English now all I have to do is finish the journal to accompany it. On Monday and during the rest of next week’s doubles in English we will be watching the movie “All quiet on the western front” and then comparing it to the novel “Fly Away Peter”. Just when you think things are settling down your teacher has to go and set more work.

I have three assignments to hand up tomorrow, one for Child Studies, one for Digital Photography and one for Studies of Societies. I should really be doing homework right now. I am quite excited about our up-and-coming Formal (in August). We might be getting there in a stretch hummer! Ooooohhh!!! Then probably staying in a hotel after and then somehow getting back home the next day. It’s still been cold all week, raining on and off as well as windy. My toes are doomed to be forever icy, possibly even drop off… Parent teacher interviews are coming up, as it’s my last year Mum might want to talk to all of my five teachers, but who knows?

I’m hungry, I may just go and put the water on to boil so that when mum get’s home from grocery shopping (anytime now) we can have agnalotti for tea! And in case no one knows agnalotti is a pasta!!

Monday, 28 April 2008: Back To School

Well school is back! Second term started and I already am behind on work. I have an oral to do in English as well as handing up my journal on Wednesday. Tomorrow I have to hand up my child studies report and my digital photography issues task….. I got my two essays back for English and I am both proud and ashamed to say that I got a 17 for one and a 12 for the other (out of 20) although the 12 was for poetry analysis and I always suck at that, the 17 however was a story. Today my friend turned 18 woo! yay! I was more excited than her. I finished a draft of my issues task but lo and behold I forget to save it to my usb so I can’t do it for homework…..

I was quite disappointed to learn that our yr 12 jackets didn’t get ordered when we thought they would but in fact two weeks later, I was hoping we would get them this week but it seems we’ll be waiting a little while longer *sigh* I have till Friday to finish my individual write-up for society which only has to be 600 words! Easy! I also have to have finished reading my 600-something page book by Wednesday (and accompanying journal<see above>)….

There is no chocolate in our house! A most horrible revelation, but mum insists that we don’t need it and although I agree we don’t NEED it I WANT it. Grrrrr no chocolate makes me grouchy. On the bright side, lasagne for tea! Or if anyone is being picky and pointing out that tea is actually a cup of tea, then dinner! I am going to have lasagne for DINNER! I think I need to do some writing to settle down…. maybe a hot drink, my feet are cold. Today was actually fairly miserable, it’s been raining for the past couple days and it’s COLD outside. I hate the cold.

So, writing, yes, that sounds like a good idea, so I say farewell and may your days be better and brighter than mine!

Poem: Hospitals

HOSPITALS

I remember going to the hospital,

Up the lifts, then turn left, down the corridor to find his bed.

Everything was white cold and clean, it smelt like disinfectant, medicine and death.

This was where they came, tried to fight and lost, eventually they all lost.

They had luxuries, good food and TV, a beautiful view of gardens lush and green below.

He wasn’t allowed to leave, none of them were; the dying aren’t allowed to leave.

In the end he wasn’t there for the treatments, none of them were, not really.

They all lost hope in the end, gave up and left, their beds reused.

Sterile environments to stop the germs hold onto the memories of a life cut short.

I remember going to the hospital, where even the healthy lost hope.

He was there for months, and I knew in my heart, he wouldn’t come out of there alive.

I hate hospitals; they remind me of a life now gone, of regret and sorrow, of lost hope, sad faces, resignation and death.

Saturday, 12 April 2008: one term down, two and a bit to go!

I have finally finished my first term of yr 12 and boy how glad I am that I now have a two week sort-of-break, where the only work I have to do is quite minimal. I’m hoping to get my L’s sometime in the next two weeks before it’s back to school but so far that seems a little out-of-reach. My sister has promised to take me shopping at least once and I am looking forward to buying some fluoro clothes (for my groups upcoming healthy eating/fluoro party for Studies of Societies!) and hopefully the third season of Stargate Atlantis if it has been reduced down from $74 to $50. Oh and also to buy the new Stargate movie, Ark of Truth. As per usual I don’t have many plans for meeting with my friends cos I’m too lazy, the only thing that is definitely happening is the aforementioned healthy eating/fluoro party, but that’s not till thursday the 24th.

Formal is coming up in August, okay so I know that’s a fair way off but if you’re planning to book a hotel room and a limo you need to get in while you can. Mum doesn’t really like the idea of my sharing a hotel room with five other people and keeps saying I need money! Which I do have, all this year so far I have been saving up money just for Formal and so far I have $250 saved, and all I need to pay for will be 1) hotel room, 2) limo, and 3) bag, shoes, and ticket. My sister has agreed to do my hair and make-up, as well as nails and mum said she’d pay for the dress so so far I think everything is working fine. Okay so I don’t have a date but there’s still time and besides I don’t think it’s so bad to go single with a group of friends.

Alrighty so I have at least one piece of work to do for each subject and as I have two weeks I feel pretty confident that I can finish it all in time. The work is as follows:

English Studies – read and take notes on the novel “Fly Away Peter” (as I have already read it once it shouldn’t take long)

Child Studies – write up a practical evaluation on the children’s toy made. Research healthy canteen food for young children.

Studies of Societies – write up evaluation of social action (healthy eating party). Research a topic for Investigative Assignment.

Biology – read and complete chapter four of workbook. Complete workbooklet given for holiday revision.

Digital Photography – Complete Issue’s task. Continue Investigation of Major Assignment. Start Design for Major Assignment. Skills task, take themed photos.

And there you have it, my fun-filled sort-of-no-work-needed holidays!!
